What can I do about the drinking?
My BF is diagnosed bi-polar, is on anti-seizure medicine (depakote) and is not suppose to drink or smoke pot. As far as I know he has been good… but occasionally he has an alcoholic beer. Mostly when he craves a beer, he will order non-alcohlic… but the last three days he has had two beers each night.
I had a horrific time two months ago with his medication/drinking/smoking… and I vowed that if he didn’t clean up, I was out of here.
Tonight when I said he should not be drinking beer-alcohol… he snarled at me and said he was fine. Then I got grumpy and we really haven’t talked… he is snoring right now… and I am upset typing this note. UGH!
What can I do? What should I do? I love him dearly… but the fit two months ago… I will never do again!!!
Time to pack.
Those who are bipolar are a handful during the best of times. When they are not compliant with their meds – it only gets worse.
Seriously, if you are not prepared to deal with the occasional but semi-regular flare ups associated with his condition (and why would you be?) it is time to get out before you spend more of your youth on this guy.
There are 2 possible ways for a romantic relationship to end – a breakup, or a marriage. Is this the life you want forever? Wondering if he is going to be compliant this week or not?
Seriously, pack and be gone before he sobers up.
Oh – and to answer your question – you can’t do anything about his drinking – only he can… and he is apparently only semi-interested in that.
