Antihistamine and snoring?
My roommate uses a nebulizer often in our room with limited ventilation. I have noticed that I have begun to snore at night since he began using it. Could the Albuterol (antihistamine) in the nebulizer be a cause for my snoring, as it would relax the muscles that the medicine would relax as I breathe it in “secondhand” (the medicine that makes it out of the machine and not into his lungs)?
The albuterol wouldn’t be making you snore. The albuterol isn’t a muscle relaxer. It’s an anti-inflammatory stimulant. I’d look into another source for your snoring problems such as an oncoming cold or sickness, changes in your sleeping position, or an adenoid problem.
If it becomes of a concern to you, you could see an Ear/Nose/Throat doctor.
I have asthma and I use both a nebulizer and an inhaler, and my mom uses a nebulizer almost all the time anymore. It has never caused snoring from what I’ve witnessed.
