Exposed to serious illness. Will my baby be OK?
My 15 month old was exposed 3 times in the past week to her younger cousin who has been having severe respiratory issues. Her mother kept telling everyone that she wasn’t actually sick, and that the cough was from her reflux. I am now sick as of this morning, and now the mother is telling me that she’s having her baby checked for pneumonia because her symptoms are getting so much worse! My daughter was snoring last night and sounded like she had nasal congestion, and has a little dry cough (actually, I think she’s imitating me with the cough, because she’s had it for a long time, and the docs never saw anything wrong with her). The cousin has not had any vaccines, but my daughter is current on all immunizations. What is the likelihood of her getting seriously sick?
just like Jen said. And if your baby is immunized then she can catch anything. And pneumonia is a viral infection of the lungs not a bacterial. but as in any case with a baby and in the winter months especially make sure that everyone washes their hands when holding her and if anyone is visibly sick try to stay away. But a little bit of congestion and cough wont hurt, if she presents a fever then call the doctor. Or if the congestion gets worse call the doctor they might want to do chest ex rays to make sure all is okay.
Anna Belle is already snoring!!!!!
