To Stop Snoring – Understand These Causes To The Condition
If you knew what caused snoring to take place, you would be in a better position to be in control of your personal case, and perhaps may find a cure. Many people just don’t know how or if there is a solution to this condition. If you want to stop snoring, read on for the causes that are both within and out of your control.
The first order of business is that you will need to uncover the causes that you do control. One of these causes is being overweight, or having poor muscle composition. The fatty tissue and even poorly developed muscle tissue can lead to a blocked airway, which can lead to difficulty in breathing. This is why it’s important to get regular exercise as a part of your daily schedule.
Another facet you can control is whether or not you smoke, use use any sedatives or muscle relaxers or drink alcohol prior to going to bed. Smoking as well as drinking will relax your muscles, and it may lead to congestion, or perhaps cause your tongue to fall to the back of your mouth and block your airway. If you cannot stop smoking, try not to do it just before bed.
One last fact you can control, for those who need to stop snoring, is to change the posture in which you sleep. If you sleep on your back all the time, this will lead to your tongue falling back and blocking your airway. You will need to try to sleep on your side, which could mean you may have to place an object on your back or underneath you. Otherwise you can try elevating your head with pillows or getting into a little more of a slouch of sorts.
On the other side of the equation are those things that you cannot control. You can find some genetic issues to contend with, like the size of your throat, cleft palate, inflamed or congenitally large adenoids and a host of other possibilities. In some of these cases, only surgery can treat the situation if nothing else works.
Another cause that is out of your ultimate control that can lead to snoring is being a male. Men have more narrowed airways than females, which increases their chances of having snoring problems. Try as you might, you cannot help your gender.
Another common condition that you cannot control which may lead to snoring is having asthma, allergies or a sinus infection. Only in the event that you have a sinus infection can you have some control, as you can take some decongestant or other remedy to help get over the symptoms.
