Hypothyroid Snoring

He’s always sleepy. Why?

On average, my bf sleeps from 11:00pm – 6:00am. Seems like enough sleep, but he’s always tired. Even if he gets more sleep than that, he’s nodding off at his desk by lunch time. He finds it hard to travel for long distances, due to the drowsiness, and we pretty much can’t stay out late anymore because he wants to sleep. He’s even fallen asleep whilst at a martini bar with lots of people and loud music!!
It’s a total drag, but I also worry about him.

His thyroid is fine, and he’s not narcoleptic. He does snore at night though.
Put it this way; I’m hypothyroid, and I more energy than he does!

You don’t mention any medications that he’s taking, so I’ll assume there aren’t any. Constant drowsiness could be due to many conditions, including:

Brain infection
Encephalitis
Head injury
Brain injury
Concussion
Brain compression
Subdural hematoma

Certain diseases that may cause sleepiness include:

Anemia
Kidney disease
Liver disease
Hypothyroidism
Klein-Levin syndrome – mostly in teens.
Cancer

In short – he really, REALLY should see a doctor to see if there’s a medical reason for his drowsiness. Being that tired all the time isn’t normal.
