How do I run away to California?
Welp I’m all set… one of my good cousins is willing to take me in.
I have all my parents credit card codes (i wont be stupid enough to use them, or else they will know where im at) and I have over 5,000 dollars and counting (been saving since i was like 7, dad leaves his pants with his wallet by his bed, and he snores REALLY loudly)
But all Im worrying about is how to get to california all the way from Beaverton, Oregon… I know HOW to get their, been there many times (Los Angeles) but I just dont know IN WHAT im going to get there in.
Help me out, be supportive … ive made up my mind…
and im 14… dont be messed up and just leave an obvious answer… I have enough street smarts to survive… that Im not worried about.
I’m impressed that you have money and a place to stay. Sounds like you’ve been planning it for a while.
The problem, of course, is that all forms of public transportation these days are scrutinized carefully for ‘terrorists’ (like you).
I would think a Greyhound bus would be safest in terms of not getting found or caught. They might not let a 14 year old travel unaccompanied. You might call them and ask.
Or you might look on Craigslist to see if anyone is coming down to California and needs someone to ride along and share gas money. Usually they’re looking for someone older who can share driving too, but it’s not that long of a trip. Should be two days, but a lot of people will just drive straight through. You can take a bus up to Portland or down to, hmmmm, Eugene? Salem? If someone is leaving from there. Ride-sharing is your best bet because it’s not carefully watched by ‘the authorities’. You might want to call them from a pay phone.
I guess I don’t have to tell you the dangers of a 14 year old girl traveling alone. I hope you’ll be careful and not take candy from strangers. You say you have ‘street smarts’, and you’ll need them.
