Is snoring a symptom of other serious health problems?
My husband’s snoring drives me crazy & It seems like it’s only getting worse. He snores so often & so loud that a few years ago he had the surgery to remove some of the tissue inside his sinuses, but that hasn’t solved the problem. I have tried to get him back to the doctor, but he won’t go.
Besides the fact that I have a hell of a time trying to get any sleep at night (I can even hear him when I go out in the living room & sleep on the couch with the air-purifier on full blast) I am concerned about his health. Any comments or suggestions??
You are very right to be worried. It sounds like he has sleep apnea. I don’t want to scare you, but sleep apnea can damage the heart, and it sometimes has killed people.
He needs to have a sleep study done ASAP. Get him an appointment NOW if you can, as they often have long waiting lists, and then talk him into going.
The condition is easily and painlessly treated with a device called CPAP. Insurance will cover the CPAP, but you can’t buy one without a prescription, as they have to be set to his individual needs. CPAP cures snoring 100%, and the user often feels much less tired during the day as well. (And so will you if you don’t have him shaking the house every night.)
Please take this seriously and insist that he do so as well. It could well be a matter of life and death. He probably does not believe he snores – record him for a few minutes and play it back the next day – that will convince him.
I Stopped Snoring, Cured my Sleep Apnea and You Can Too
