why is he waking up gasping for air?
my boyfriend has all the symptoms of sleep apnea..hes gained weight, he snores and is very tired at work all the time…3 times so far…he woke up gasping for air and said he felt like there was a huge mucus plug in his throat…do you think this is obstructive sleep apnea?
Sleep apnea and allergies run in my family. It sounds like a mixture of both. He definitely needs to see a doctor ASAP. In the meantime tell him no eating 2-3 hours before going to bed. Try to get more exercise even if it is just walking in place for 15 minutes and doing stretching exercises. Take a hot shower before going to bed, drink a hot cup of tea with mint in it. Put vapor rub on his chest and elevate his head while sleeping by using a few extra pillows.
