My snoring is ruining my relationship!?

My husband has brought to my attention that my snoring is becoming too much. He ends up sleeping on the couch most nights because of this. I get about 8 hours of sleep a night and am always so tired throughout the day and I think my snoring may be the culprit. My hubby doesn’t think I actually stop breathing but he says that I snore so loud that I wake up gasping. I don’t actually wake up, I didn’t even realize I did this…I’m sleeping, who could tell. I think this is having a huge impact on my quality of sleep. I heard about a procedure called the pillar procedure and I’m just wondering if anyone out there has had this done and can share your experience. Also, is there a way to determine if my health insurance will cover this? Thanks for any info you can give me.

I agree that you probably have sleep apnea. Waking up and not feeling refreshed, loud snoring, gasping for breath, are all key symptoms. Your GP can refer you to a sleep clinic. It’s quick and painless – you check in the evening, put your jammies on, they hook up your head to an eeg and you go to sleep. If you are showing apnea problems, they will hook you up to a cpap machine and adjust the pressure until your apnea stops.

With apnea, you are actually waking up several times a minute so even though you think you are sleeping, your body isn’t getting rested at all.
