Is it possible for Dogs to think they’re humans?
I have a 5 month old Beagle-Weiner Dog mix i’ve had him since he was 8 weeks old, and I swear to God he thinks he’s human, He sits on his bum with his two hind legs out just like a human, he goes to sleep in my bed with all fours up in the air, his head on the pillow and he MUST be covered with blankets and he snores so loud! he’ll eat only when I eat and he’ll want to go everywhere and do everything I do! it’s so cute!
Basically, I was just wondering why this is and if dogs actually think they’re one of us!
Thanks! : )
Dogs have individual personalities, issues and idiosyncrasies, yes. What you’ve described here isn’t all that isolated behavior patterns though! Dogs learn to be dogs within their pack between 5-7 weeks of age, and how to assimilate (as dogs) into their human packs best between 8-10 weeks. So, unless you got your puppy too young, he knows he’s a dog…he’s just figured out how to have the finer things for himself in his human pack as well!
(So, if removed from mom and litter too early, and compounded by a lack of socialization, it’s possible for dogs not to know they are dogs but that leaves them without an identity, it doesn’t mean they think they’re human.)
Snoring Beagle pup!
