Couch Potato Pet

Is your dog a couch potato? Or do you want a affectioante, loving and will accommodate your need to be lazy? Here are the most popular couch potato dogs.

The Dachshund

The dachshund is a breed that is a good pick for a couch potato. Although the weenie dogs (Dachshund’s nickname) are generally quite lively, they don’t require a great deal of exercise. A short walk a day should suit them very well. Because of its back and orthopedic problems and shorter-than-short legs, this little dog can only handle so much exercise. The weenie dogs won’t mind spending time with you or cuddling up in a small corner of the sofa. They’re a perfect companion for lying beside you on the couch as you doze.

Bull Dogs

Whether it is English Bulldog or French Bulldog, these two breed tend to have lower levels of activity, and may adapt well to a less active lifestyle. They are indoor dogs. They will be quite happy with a short walk each day. If you don’t mind sharing the couch, then a bull dog is the dog for you. This stubborn breed won’t forfeit their rightful position on the couch, so let that be a warning. They are affectionate and loving and will accommodate your need to be lazy.

Japanese Chin

The Japanese Chin’s true origin remains controversy. However, it is wildly agreed that the Japanese Chin is originated in China. According to AKC, this breed is considered one of the most cat-like of the dog breeds in attitude: it is alert, intelligent, and independent. It likes no better than spending time on your lap; therefore, it’s an excellent apartment dog as well as couch potato dog. The Chin catches on quick to commands, so you don’t have to spend a lot of time on training. If you’d still like a cat-like dog to keep you company while you watch your favorite action television.

Pug

The pug dog is an ideal dog for any couch potato as it doesn’t require a lot of space or exercise. Like the bull dog, Pug will insist that you make space on the couch for him too. Also because Pug is prone to breathing issues, the dog has a tendency to snore while being a couch potato.

Chihuahua

The Chihuahua doesn’t do well in the cold weather and may shiver. AKC describes the breed as, “A graceful, alert, swift-moving little dog with saucy expression, compact, and with terrier-like qualities of temperament”. The Chihuahua is a dog breed that can get most of their exercise done inside the house/apartment if you provide them with stimulating toys. If you have enough energy to throw a toy around a bit while you watch television, you’ll make a Chihuahua very happy.

Miniature Pinscher

Miniature Pinscher is a small and compact dog. They are very active indoors. Play can take care lots of exercise that they need. They are good with apartment living and will do okay without a yard. The Miniature Pinscher should be protected from the cold. If you’re a couch potato, then there are indeed certain less active dog breedsthat will fit your life style. Of course, you’ll want to stay away from active dogs like terriers or beagles. Dog breeds that enjoy relaxing, require a lower amount of exercise and possess an amiable personality like Min Pin will be a great choice.

All dogs need some sort of stimulation and daily exercise. A walk daily is recommended in order to preserve a dog’s health and sanity.

It is for those cute and cuddly furbabies who refuse to get out of bed or couch. Catt was in trading business for a decade and just recently rediscover herself and opened a online doggie boutique, ID4Pet.com with her two little loyal partners, ToTo and Chu Chu( two little 2.5 pound Yorkshire Terrier). Some might ask, Why spoil your pet? My response is Why not! Who else listens without interrupting, is elated when we arrive home, understands our woes and never ever talks back. “Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives while,” says Roger Caras.
