eehhh, okay so I am not sure what to do about this problem?
I have an issue. My fiance and I like cannot sleep together. Like literally. I have stayed at his place a few times in the past and he has told me he didn’t get 1 bit of sleep because I snore. I didn’t even know that i did snore. He is a really light sleeper and I guess I sleep so deep that I have no awareness of my snoring, anyone else have this problem?? What did you do or are going to do.
By the way just because i know someone will suggest this, I have tried like every over the counter snoring aid out there “Breatheright, SnoreAlert, you name it….”
I have enlarged tonsils and i am pretty sure they are causing my snoring…my fear is I will have to have them removed. Is this the only way to stop my snoring? Are there any medications my doctor can prescribe to rid the snoring??
read the entire question, tried them
Lol.
My mom and my sisters dad have the same prob.
He snores and she’s a light sleeper so she can’t sleep..Mostly of the time she goes to sleep on the couch or with me in my room.
A very common and effective snoring remedy is called positional therapy. Generally speaking, people snore less when they are not sleep in the supine position (illustrated to your right). Sleeping on your back allows your soft palate and uvula to relax into the back of your throat, obstructing your breathing pathways. By sleeping on your side, or in a prone position, you relieve some of the pressure put on your airways, allowing air to flow more freely, simultaneously reducing the volume of your snoring.
Second, avoid alcohol and tranquilizers. According to Dr. Karl Doghramji, “alcohol and sleeping pills can depress your central nervous system and relax the muscle of your throat and jaw, making snoring more likely”.
Third, lose weight. It was said that an extra weight especially around the neck puts a pressure on the airway and causes it to somehow collapse. So a healthy diet may be necessary to help get rid of snoring.
Fourth, stop smoking. If you’re a smoker, it’s better to quit because according to Westbrook “smoking can be very irritating to the lining of the upper airway, including the nose.” You will not only get rid of snoring, but it will be also good for your health.
Fifth, elevate your head. One way to get rid of snoring doing this, is putting pillows under neck until you get to a sitting-like position. Because according to Thomas Roth, “Sleeping with your head raised may take some of the pressure off the airway, making breathing easier.”
Sixth, keep regular schedule. Nino Murcia said, “Sleep deprivation also increases the volume of snoring.” Maintain a regular sleep schedule, as much as possible sleep enough hours. Dozing off during the day may be an indicator that you’re not getting enough sleep. Taking a nap on your free time may help to get rid of snoring problem.
Hope I helped! (:
