No Snore Sleep Time is Within Your Reach
Anybody who has a member of the family who snores away at night tends to believe it is normal. Or at least, he tries to treat it as a normal part of life. That familiar low sound every night will already be considered a very common noise during the night time period. Since this condition is fairly common, most people are hardened from tring to get a no snore night, even if they actually want a good night’s rest. This is most likely because they believe snoring is already part of who they are and cannot be changed.
Does snoring really cause sleep disturbance? Well, the roommates and housemates of the snorer will definitely be disturbed, but how about the person who snores? No real evidence has been shown by scientific study, but some daytime distractions have been shown to be linked to snoring. A very disrupting symptom is excessive sleepiness and tiredness that results in much difficulty accomplishing tasks. Well, this can be only due to a temporary lack of sleep. But when this extreme fatigue happens to a person who insists he goes to bed early and wakes up after sufficient slumber, perhaps he should ask a roommate to ensure there was no snore coming from him the night before.
When it is found that the person does snore, despair is not an option. Research has come up with several natural ways to avoid or reduce the occurrence of snoring. The most common root linked to snoring, though, is having too much excess weight. Well, since a person does not lose weight overnight, this makes it a root cause that is harder to deal with. Given that weight is always a difficult issue to deal with, it may be wise to look at other triggers and deal with them first.
The sleeping position of the snoring person is another factor, one that is easier to control. When one sleeps on his back, it is considered a way of preventing snoring because the abdomen gets expanded. If one is used to falling asleep curled up on his side or lying on his belly, he will have to retrain himself to fall asleep on his back. When the person is finally asleep, sometimes he will still roll over, so his partner can help by rolling him back to the back-lying position. Another option is to prop up his neck with another pillow. This stretches the airway muscles and the lungs, making the person less prone to snoring.
Another thing to watch for is one’s intake of alcohol. Too much alcohol taken just before bedtime results in throat muscles that are too relaxed. This gives room for blockages to the airway that can cause snoring. If there is a celebration that simply cannot be missed, a good principle to remember is to take drinks early and not go to sleep right away to give the alcohol time to wear off.
Unfortunately, causes of snoring are not all that easily adjusted or controlled. Among these uncontrollable causes is the natural anatomy of a person’s throat and mouth. This is an inborn trait that increases the risk of snoring. Whereas individuals with this natural anatomy would therefore consider it impossible to reach a no snore night, he should first make sure that is indeed the only cause for snoring by scratching off all other recognized triggers. There are now inventions to curb snoring, such as uniquely-shaped pillows, sprays, and other similar products. The best way to go about it is to consult sleep specialsts who know the best way to deal with the snoring, so that the snorer can sleep well knowing there is still a solution.
