Seriously infected Wisdom tooth extraction 4 years ago leading to a big lump on my pallette ?

4 years ago I had a wisdom tooth removed, it was abscessed and ulcerated and in general… Pretty revolting.
After this episode, the swelling and infection went away leaving my palette swolen on one side. This caused no particular problems in it’s self, but has lead to 4 years of repeated throat infections to the point that I had my Tonsils (and spurs ?) removed last year to open thing up and try to prevent me from snoring.

Has anyone else had similar long term problems after the extraction of seriously infected wisdom teeth ?

Please don’t answer tellin me to go to my GP, I’m in for an MRI and CT soon, yesterday I had a camera up my nose and several trained professionals looking in my mouth ears and nose, so take it as read that I am seeking professional medical advice and reicieving attention… however, for the moment the specialist admits he’s not sure what it is. The lump has no pulse, is not growing and is not painfull.

Any one been there or got an educated guess ?

maybe a tiny part of the extracetd tooth has been left in the cavity . this will cause you to have sweling in the gum and recurrent infections as the body tries to fight against it . i had a similar experiance 5 years ago .its nasty i know and cam be extreamly uncomfortable .evenutally when examined by an oral doctor in hospital the problem was sorted with a small operation to remove the remnant of root .
