HELP ME my dogs need food?
My mom snores… and when i wake her up shes like stop it ill get up in a minute she says we were going to the grocery store like 2 hours ago in a minute.
first off i dont have a licence
second my dad doesnt live with us
third.. my dogs stomach is sensitive
Dogs can eat people food if they aren’t allergic to the item and it’s basic, healthy stuff like meat, potatoes, carrots, rice, cooked beans, canned tuna, toasted bread etc., but not stuff like sugary, salty or spicy foods. A small bit of sugar or salt is okay and is in dog food and treats anyway. Don’t feed them onions, grapes, raisins, fake sugar, or chocolate, because these are toxic to dogs. They have evolved for 30,000 years eating the thrown away parts of human food, so their nutrition needs are very similar to humans’ for carbohydrate, protein and fat intake, therefore they can do fine on a wholesome human food diet if the person feeding them isn’t stupid about the choices.
They do not need food available all the time, it’s actually healthier to feed most dogs only once a day because an empty stomach gives their system time to build up certain enzymes that help their immune system fight off germs and kill cancer seed cells before they start a problem. The amount they need depends on metabolism, activity level, age, etc. so after a few days if they get skinnier, feed a bit more at dinnertime, if they get fat, feed a bit less.
My real concern right now is not for your dogs, though, it’s for your mother. I like a nap as much as the next middle aged mom, but mothers have genetic programming driving them to make sure their families are taken care of, so if she’s napping longer than usual and/or neglecting important duties, she might be fighting off a flu or something. After all, hasn’t she managed to keep you fed, clothed, etc.? and now you’re almost old enough to take care of yourself. My grandpa was out on his own after 2nd grade, if an 8 year old can get a job and survive you certainly can figure out how to make do in this situation. Make the dogs some peanut butter toast and let her sleep, she will get more dog food before they turn into skeletons.
If your mom is having problems like with money or relationships, she could be getting depressed, so you need to be more aware of what you can do to help. This is a bad economic time and a lot of adults are very worried about how to keep going until the economy improves. Even just learning how to cook a pot of brown rice and lentils to stretch the dog food with can save money while easing the burden of your mom needing to do everything herself. You can make a big difference.
You obviously have the intelligence and initiative to step up and go find out how to get the information you need to handle your responsibilities. I have confidence that you will read more and learn more about managing your dogs, and other issues as well.
